About Festival & Friends

Festival & Friends is a classical music festival with a focus on playful experimentation with formats, and bringing people together through music. We focus on creating a fun, informal and joyful community around the concert going experience, and believe that everyone should feel welcome – whether it is your first or 100th classical concert experience.

The Copenhagen summer is full of joy and late nights, creating a vibrant setting for Festival & Friends, which attracts hundreds of music-loving festival goers. We strive to provide an informal atmosphere where people from all walks of life can experience some of the world’s best young classical music talents and join us for a beer or coffee between each concert.

The festival is created, curated and run by young musicians, and takes place in Nørrebro, Copenhagen from June 18 - 21.

Classical music is for everyone!
We are called Festival & Friends because we value the friendships made through shared musical experiences among both visitors and performers. We understand how the world of classical music can feel exclusionary and intimidating to many, and we want to turn this perception on its head, by making the world’s most welcoming and inclusive classical music festival.

About the team

The founders of the festival - Lea Han and Gustav Piekut - are two good friends who, besides both being pianists, share a tremendous passion for introducing others to the wonderful world and sounds of chamber music. We are the ones who have created, developed, and run the festival for now the fifth consecutive year.

During the COVID lockdown in 2020 we wanted to create a space where friendships and chamber music could flourish, and with the help of our friends started a small festival. We do it for ourselves, but most importantly for all of you who want to be part of our universe.

Since the first year of the festivals, many friends have helped shape the festival in different ways for which we are very grateful, such as our amazing volunteers, our photographer Julia Severinsen and our design director Marcus Melo. This year Andreas Thrane is joining the team as a producer, helping the concerts stay on schedule, and keeping everything running smooth.
