Lea Han

Piano & Festival Director

Lea Han has by now established herself as an remarkable figure in the younger Danish music scene. Since 2020, she has been a co-founder and festival director of Festival & Friends — which in recent years has evolved into one of the largest chamber music festivals that is driven and organized by the younger generation of musicians.

She completed her master's degree at the Royal Danish Academy of Music in 2021 under the guidance of Amalie Malling and Jens Elvekjær. Previously, she studied under the renowned Russian piano pedagogue Bella Zapolski, where at a young age, she won 1st prizes at multiple national competitions. At the age of 14, she performed with the Danish National Symphony Orchestra and was awarded the Copenhagen Summerfestival Talent Prize the following year. In 2020, she received the prestigious Leonié Sonning Talent Prize, in addition to a long list of other scholarships throughout her time at the conservatory. Most recently in 2021, she was generously loaned a Steinway grand piano by the Augustinus Foundation.

She is active in the new music trio Trio Spell, with clarinetist Jonas Frølund and percussionist Jonathan Jakshøj. The trio is currently working on an EP project to record Per Nørgård's 'Spell' in a new arrangement for piano, clarinet, and percussion. The arrangement will later be released by Wilhelm Hansen.

Alongside her freelance and artistic activities, she is also pursuing a degree at Copenhagen Business School.
